Weekly Wag: "Herbie had the time of his life"

Weekly Wag is a regular series we run to highlight some of our amazing users and gush over the experiences they’ve had with Spotwag.

Who: Sarah-Jane

Day job: Head of Developer Relations @ Context.IO

Why did you need a pet sitter: I’m constantly traveling for work, and there’s only so often I can tap my parents or my ex for doggy care. However, I’ve never left my boy at a pet hotel and I was really concerned about leaving him with strangers, not to mention the associated costs. I’ve been looking for another solution to this problem for ages.

How was your overall experience: The friends that volunteered to take Herbie were not close friends of mine, but people that I already knew were huge pug lovers and had even taken care of friend’s pugs in the past, so I totally trusted them right off the bat. However, I never would have been able to reach out to them directly and ask them to watch Herbie, our friendship just wasn’t quite at that level. Spotwag basically had THEM asking ME if they could take care of my dog! Amazing. Herbie got the chance to play in parks he’d never been to, meet new dogs, and get snuggles from new people. He had a wonderful weekend, and so did I, as I completely trusted his caretakers. :)

Why Spotwag: Asking someone to watch your pet is a huge favor, and because of that, it isn’t something pet owners feel comfortable asking just anyone to do. Spotwag is genius in that it eliminates that awkwardness you might feel in asking someone trusted but not directly close. There are tons of people who can’t have pets of their own, but often have the free time and desire to spend some time with one without committing to complete ownership. Spotwag connects these people through trusted networks. I love it!

Final thoughts: I definitely plan on using Spotwag to discover more Herbie-loving contacts in my social network that are craving a few days of pug cuddles every so often. And was it ever cheap… a bottle of wine for a stress-free weekend traveling? Can’t get a better deal than that, and Herbie had the time of his life. Win win!
